weight loss lifestyle - continuation

weight loss
This is a continuation weight loss lifestyle article and is designed to assist people with understanding how to achieve as sustainable weight loss. To loose body fat and to ensure it stays off, it is much more than just following a weight loss diet. A weight loss lifestyle encompasses aspects of life that either directly or indirectly influences the body's fat intake and its ability to metabolise fat.

The weight loss diet and lifestyle

The weight loss diet is only one aspect of a healthy lifestyle and was primarily covered in the previous article. However, it is important to also emphasise the importance of drinking sufficient water for weight loss as it both directly and indirectly affects the amount of calories consumed as well as the metabolism of the fat in the body. When the body feels dehydrated it sends signals to the brain that triggers the sensation of thirst, however, with today's busy lifestyle it is not always possible to drink as and when necessary. Therefore the brain resorts to more drastic measures to ensure the body is sufficiently hydrated for the organs to continue to function in a healthy way. It therefore triggers sensation of hunger within the body as the body can extract water from most foods. Therefore the body will inevitably take in more calories than necessary, which then results in weight gain. In addition to this, the healthy functioning of the kidneys and the liver rely on water. The liver is the primary organ responsible for the body's fat metabolism and is therefore important to ensure its function is optimised as much as possible.

Another important factor to a weight loss program should be the way the food is prepared. The way food is prepared sometimes also dictates the amount of fat it contains. It is important to drill or steam as much of the food high in fat as possible, which includes all meats especially red meat as it is high in saturate fat which has been shown to not only lead to obesity but other terminal illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. It is absolutely vital to stay away from any fried food as they increase the amount of fat a food already contains.

Weight loss exercise and change of lifestyle

Weight loss exercise should be encompassed within a healthy weight loss lifestyle as to ensure the body uses fat as its primary fuel source, as well as ensuring that the body continues to burn fat long after the exercise has stopped. To ensure the body is using fat as its primary fuel during exercise, a person should exercise with the aerobic zone by making sure the heart rate remains within 70% to 80% of the maximum heart rate. It is for this reason that a heart rate monitor is vital to the weight loss. A thirty minutes walking session prior to a meal should not only raise the metabolic rate to ensure more fat is burnet than usual, but also, it uses some of the existing stored fat as fuel. Once sufficient weight has been lost then it is important to introduce some interval and weight training into the weight loss exercise sessions. BUT, it is important to ensure a medical doctor is consulted before doing any interval or weight training. This is because interval training puts excessive pressure on the heart muscles as it involves training in the An-aerobic Zone, and the weight training puts excessive pressure on the general muscles and it is often very hard to get the technique just right as to ensure safety. Both these weight loss exercise methods will raise the metabolic long after the exercise has finished, and therefore the body is able to continue to burn fat even when resting.

Weight loss lifestyle habits

Weight loss lifestyle habits also affect the way the body metabolises and stores fat. The Cortisol hormone is known as the fight or flight hormone as its role is to enable the body to react to stress full situations. Cortisol encourages the body to store fat, and in addition to which it also reduces protein synthesis in the body. By reducing the protein synthesis, the body turns to its existing protein storage, the muscles. However, this catabolic state results in a reduced metabolic rate, which further encourages the amount of calories burnt. So what triggers Cortisol hormone in the body, well, lack of sufficient sleep, too much exercise and general daily stress all lead to the Cortisol hormone being released in the body. There are Cortisol supplements available to regulate the Cortisol hormone but it is far better to manage it through diet and lifestyle than with supplements.
